Sit full NextGen section simulations on your phone

A NextGen section is a three-hour block mixing 40 multiple-choice questions, two integrated question sets, and a timed performance task. The app runs full simulations of exactly that block at official pacing, then converts your raw performance into an estimated scaled score on the 500–750 scale and plots it against your jurisdiction’s pass line. Simulators are part of Premium, which starts with a 3-day free trial.

The section is the unit of exam fitness

Topic drilling builds knowledge; sections build the thing test day actually demands, which is switching item types under one unbroken clock. The pacing risk on NextGen is real: linger on an integrated set and the performance task at the end of the block absorbs the damage. Candidates who have sat several full sections before the real one know their split times cold. Candidates who have not, find out live.

A score you can place on the real scale

After each simulation the app estimates a scaled score on the official 500–750 scale and shows it against the passing line for your state, with all 56 jurisdictions covered. An estimate from practice conditions is not a guarantee, and the app never pretends otherwise, but a trend line of section scores against your state’s number is the most honest readiness signal self-study can produce. The scoring explainer below covers how the real scale works.

How to run a full section sim on your iPhone

  1. 1

Start the trial. Simulators are a Premium feature; the weekly plan opens with a 3-day free trial billed through your Apple ID.

  2. 2

Block three hours. Book the morning, silence the phone, airplane mode on. The sim runs entirely offline.

  3. 3

Sit the whole block. 40 MCQs, two integrated sets, one performance task, no pauses — the switching is the training.

  4. 4

Read the score against your state. Check the estimated scaled score against your jurisdiction’s pass line and log your split times per item type.

  5. 5

Review every miss the same day. Work the explanations while your reasoning is fresh, then drill the weakest item type during the week and sit another section next weekend.

Quick answers

Is the simulator timed like the real NextGen section?
Yes: three hours for 40 MCQs, two integrated question sets, and one performance task at official pacing, sat in one unbroken block the way the real exam runs it.
How accurate is the scaled-score estimate?
It is an estimate from practice conditions on the official 500-750 scale, not an NCBE score. Treat the trend across several sections as the signal, not any single number.
