Oregon is one of the 10 first-wave jurisdictions that adopted the NextGen bar exam for its debut on July 28–29, 2026. If you are testing in Oregon, the NextGen format — three 3-hour sessions mixing multiple-choice questions, integrated question sets, and performance tasks — is already your exam.
The announced passing score is 615 on the 500–750 scale — NCBE's recommended range is 610–620, so Oregon sits in the middle of that band.

If the chair of the Oregon State Board of Bar Examiners finds that the deadlines place an undue hardship on the Board, the Oregon State Bar, or the testing population as a whole, then the deadlines may be extended by up to 15 business days. If the chair of the Board extends any deadlines, notice shall be placed on the web page of the Oregon State Bar’s Admissions Department.

In addition to the $750 application fee, applicants who have been admitted in any jurisdiction (foreign or domestic) or have a pending application with another jurisdiction (foreign or domestic) must pay an additional investigation fee of $425.
